Paul Otis Ely MT. PLEASANT - Paul Otis Ely, 98, of The Palms of Mount Pleasant, SC, husband of the late Janet Marjorie Ulrich Ely passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013. The relatives and friends of Paul Ely are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, at 10:00 AM. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Mepkin Abbey Columbarium at 3:00 PM. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Paul was born April 11, 1915 in Franklin, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edgar L. Ely and Vera Porter Ely. He worked as a welder & steamfitter. He was a past member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was beloved by his daughters, Gail Masocco and her husband Dominick of Summerville, SC and Karen Delcioppo of Daniel Island, SC, and nine grandchildren, Alicia Masocco-Steele, Julianne Masocco, Matthew Masocco, Michael Delcioppo, Paul Delcioppo, Steven Delcioppo, Marie Delcioppo, Marie Chandra Leggett, and Ryan Ely; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Sarah McNutt of San Diego, CA; and his daughter-in-law, Christine Ely of Hamburg, NY. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 71 years, Janet Ely; his dear son, John Neuman Ely; his siblings, Norman Ely, Marion Goetz, Ebin Ely, and Ralph Ely. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Paul's memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
