While I only met Gervais once, when he visited San Felipe de Austin with his grand-daughter Susan, we spoke and shared emails while I was working on The Reminiscences of Moses Austin Bryan. He was so willing to share information with me. My sincere condolences to his family.

I was blessed to work with both P.G. Bell and David Underwood in the late 70's and early 80's at Houston Country Club. Mr. Bell was the epitome of class, proper demeanor, and kindness - qualities often hard to find these days. What I learned from him would fill a book. I shall miss him deeply - his passing is truly the end of an era. Sending much love to all the Bell family.

Gervais taught me most everything I know about Texas maps and I enjoyed our discussions and advice he gave me. He was both friend and mentor who cannot be replaced. Unfortunately Jan and I will be in India during the funeral.
Jan and I send our love to you and your family. Tom Davis
