So saddened to hear of Paul's passing. He and I were classmates at St. Mary's Parochial School and at Winyah High. A fine guy all around. Condolences to all the family. Thank you for a fine obituary. It is good to know what a fine life he led.
My deepest sympathies. Carter Joseph

Gretchen,Kylie, Joy and Gil, Paul was a fun loving man. His sense of humor kept me laughing. He loved you girls and was so proud to bring another male Altman in the fold. I wish my kids could have known him like I did. My prayers are with each of you as you move through the next few days and the future. God bless you...AAG

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
Smooth seas Captain Paul, till we meet again on the other shore.

My condolences to family and friends who will miss Paul more than words can say, as will I. A co-worker, fishing buddy, and friend - many happy times were spent with him, and many good memories will endure. God bless him, and peace to you all.

I am saddened to read about the passing of Paul and please accept my sincere condolences! I knew Paul as one of his customers/clients when he performed audits of my departments with Haarmann & Reimer. He was a true professional and interesting man that I came to know rather well over 35 years of Audits. As a Local man myself, we shared many stories of Golf, fishing, hunting and living life in our beloved low country.Besides being honest and fair he was quick with a smile in an otherwise serious profession.I regret that I cannot attend the celebration of his life to pay my respects, as we will be out of state, but he will be in my thoughts and the family in my prayers.
