Linda Battey Obituary

Linda M. (Flynn) Battey, 71, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 29, at Cottagewood in Rochester. She was born to Stephen and Lucille (Nigon) Flynn in Rochester on Dec. 27, 1945. On Jan. 17, 1981, she married Richard in Stewartville.

Linda worked in the histories department, X-ray records and keys management for the Mayo Clinic and retired in 2000, after 25 years. She loved crafts and making quilts. She enjoyed traveling to Seattle, Florida and the Twin Cities to see her children and grandchildren, who she gratefully spoiled. Linda had lived in sobriety for over 37 years and was an active participant in Alcoholics Anonymous.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Lucille Flynn. She will be remembered by her loving husband of 36 years, Richard; son, Gary (Linda) Haas; daughter, Sonja Haas (JaJa Drew); stepdaughters, Nora Candela, Dorie King, and Debra Iglesias; grandchildren, Rachel, Joey, Xavier, Nadia, Mark (Misty) Huffman, Christina (Nathan) Pineault, Heather and Santana; great-grandchildren, JoJo, Noah, Caleb and Luke; and siblings, Patty Kasey, Jim (Marge) Flynn, Bridget (Donny) Skrukrud and Vince (Sharon) Flynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linda's family.

The family wishes to thank the remarkable and caring staff at The Cottages, where she was lovingly cared for the past few years and for making her comfortable in her last days.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 2, at 1:30 p.m. in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
