Patsy Moody Memoriam

Patsy Moody

Patsy Moody (Ringley)

August 22, 1945 - February 23, 2026

Patsy Moody, 80, of Daniel Island, South Carolina, passed peacefully on February 23, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 22, 1945, in St. Charles, Virginia, Patsy was the beloved daughter of Earl and Lona Ringley. She grew up rooted in faith at Rural Missionary Baptist Church in Banner, Virginia-a church she continued to love and attend throughout her life. Later, she was also a devoted member of Mountain City Presbyterian Church. Her life reflected the image of Christ in action: selfless, generous, steady, and deeply compassionate.

Patsy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and worked as an administrative assistant with the Tennessee Department of Disability and later the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. But her truest qualification was the one she embodied daily-she held a doctorate degree in being a Mama, Nonni, Sister, and Auntie. In those roles, she was unparalleled.

She will be remembered as the most selfless person many have ever known. Patsy lived with open hands and an open heart. There was always room for one more at her table and always time for one more conversation. When she asked how you were, she truly wanted the long answer. She loved children-especially babies-with a tenderness that was unmistakable. She loved everyone deeply, but her greatest earthly joy, after her love for Jesus, was her family-the entire extended crew.

A gifted gardener, Patsy was a planter of roses, wildflowers, and vegetables. She lovingly canned the fruits of her labor and filled her kitchen with the aroma of remarkable meals that brought people together. Hospitality was not something she practiced; it was who she was.

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Moody) Thompson and her wife, Carrie Thompson, and granddaughter Cameron Thompson; her son, Dallas Moody and his wife, Isabel Castro, and grandsons Nico and Camilo; her sister, Roberta Meade; her brother, Greg Ringley; her half brothers, Mark Ringley and Boyce Ringley; her half sister Tammy Collins and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Moody; her parents, Earl and Lona Ringley; her sisters, Alice "Teenie" Ratliff and Phyllis Yeary; and her brothers, Harold Ringley and David Ringley.

Patsy's life was a living testimony to faith, family, and love in action. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy blooms on-in the gardens she planted, the meals she shared, the children she held, and the countless lives she touched with grace.

A graveside service and scattering of ashes will be held on April 18th at 3pm in the Moody section of Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness done in Patsy's honor-invite someone to your table, plant something beautiful, and love without reservation. Memorial contributions may also be made to NAMI - National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org).
