Patrick Treacy Obituary

Patrick Treacy COLUMBIA - Patrick Edward Treacy, 80, of Columbia, SC, passed away suddenly at home on October 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Patrick was born August 18, 1933 in New York City to John Joseph and Sarah Gillespie Treacy of Ireland. Patrick's daughter, Mary Treacy; and brothers, John, James, Thomas, Brian and Robert, predeceased him. He is survived by six children, Sarah Ellen Anderson (Arnie) WA, Theresa Moore (Keith), Aileen Meyers (Bob), Patrick Edward, Jr. (Aquanette), Brett (Tori) and Deirdre; step-children, Gray McNulty Williams (Barry), Kathleen McNulty Rice (Steve), and Matilda Robertson McNulty; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; many nephews and nieces; his sister, Susan Treacy Jerzewski; and brother, Philip, whom he loved dearly. During the Korean War he served in the US Army. Upon his discharge he enrolled at the University of South Carolina earning an undergraduate degree, majoring in journalism, and a post-graduate degree in law. After graduation from law school he served as an FBI agent. He practiced law for many years in South Carolina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly St, Columbia 10 o'clock, Friday, October 11th, with The Rev. Fr. Gary S. Linsky officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Mason Rd, Columbia. Family and friends will gather immediately following the graveside service at the home of Bob and Aileen Meyers. Additionally, the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Thursday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post # 641, 534 S Beltline Blvd, Columbia, SC 29205. Memories and condolences may be shared at ShivesFuneralHome.com. Dear Deirdre,
Words can not express the heartache I feel for you and your family.It brings back difficult memories for me when I lost my dad in 2011. You all are such lovely people and I adore you.... please know that I am praying for you all. I am glad that I had the pleasure of meeting your dad...he was such a wonderful man. I will close by saying, enjoy the time and awesome memoires that you were so blessed to have with your dad and make sure you live without any regrets as this is how he would have wanted it....
