Patrick Marshall Obituary

Patrick Hugh Marshall CHARLESTON - "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." It is with broken hearts and grief stricken minds that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Hugh Marshall, 47, of Charleston, SC, on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He was a beloved son, faithful brother, loving companion, cherished uncle, and loyal friend. To know Patrick was to know love, fun, humor, adventure, compassion, and humility. He enjoyed all things life had to offer and never missed an opportunity to try something new or have a good time. He was the life of the party and he never met a stranger. We all have fond memories of a joke he made or a funny gesture he did to make us laugh. He enjoyed his many trips to Wilmington, NC to see friends, his birthdays spent camping at the Nantahala River where he would go white water rafting. Patrick went on many fishing trips with his brothers and friends. He loved surfing, paddle boarding, golfing, relaxing at the beach, skiing, mountain biking and spending time with his fiance; Christy, her daughter Sam, their dog Jazzy, and his many friends and family. He was most happy when he was outdoors and at the beach. He was a Coastal native at heart but was born in Forsyth County and raised in Surry County. Patrick had many accomplishments during his brief time with us, he attended Camden Military Academy and graduated from Surry Central High School but, he was most proud of his A.A.S Degree in Landscape Design from Horry Georgetown Technical College. He was preceded in passing by his father, Jack D. Marshall Sr.; an uncle, Dennis Porterfield; paternal grandparents, Grandfather Nick and Alvah Marshall; maternal grandparents, Allen and Katherine Arnold; and a cousin, Scott Riley, who have all welcomed him home with loving embraces. He is survived by his mother, Martha Marshall; fiance;, Christy Leach and daughter Sam Leach; two brothers, Jack D. Marshall Jr. and wife, Donna and Keith Marshall and wife, Carla; one sister, Cristi Bures and husband, Peter; nephews, Scott, Nate, and Jack Marshall III; and nieces, Maggie, Anna, Sarah, Taylor Marshall, and Katherine and Molly Bures. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2016, in the clubhouse at 2801 Planters Point Blvd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29466. There was a memorial service held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem, NC. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com. I'm very sorry to hear this news. Patrick was one of those friends you never forget. Some people go through life living. Patrick enjoyed every minute. He loved his family, friends and his dog. What I think he'd say....."Always leave them laughing when you say goodbye." God bless my friend.
