Since 2017 , Patrick was a member of the Brick House Ruins , Inc. Board of Directors. That organization was set up to preserve the circa 1725 Brick House Ruins, a National Historic Landmark on Edisto Island. With his encouragement and support, BHRP raised funds to stabilize the 4 brick walls left after a tragic 1929 fire, as well as to shore up the 2 chimneys and cap the 4 walls to prevent water intrusion into the bricks.

A friend of the Jenkins family who have owned the 300 acre property since 1798 , we will miss his good cheer and kind spirit .

Although our fathers were brothers, my father was the baby and stayed in the army after the war. So, I first met Pat and Mike in California when we were on our way back from Japan. Later, we were visiting Johnny and Rhoda and, somehow, Pat and Mike were visiting as well. I don´t know if you remember this Rhoda but Pat was about the cutest guy we had ever seen in our lives. I kind of felt sorry for Mike. But it was a wonderful time together for cousins. And memorable for me because I lived so far away most of the time and didn´t see the Butler family. rhoda, I know you had a happy life with Pat And I am so very glad. Regards Carol Butler steigner
