Patrick, I only got the chance to know you for a little bit, but I'm still saddened by your loss. I am grateful for the short time that we got to be friends, and I certainly hope you are at peace now. Based on what your family and close friends say, I can tell that you were a wonderful and amazing person, and I feel so fortunate that I had the chance to know you, even for just a little bit. To your family and loved ones, I express my deepest sympathies, and I am sorry for your loss as well.

I played with Pat in Severed Ties. One of the coolest people you ever met, made a lasting impression on me and his guitar playing was so real. RIP Pat.

I met pla through our mutual interest in computers, Linux, and photography. He used a song I produced as background music for a video he created:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9aaTd_MYbw
I thought it was the coolest thing that he wanted to use my music for a tech video demonstrating how many friends he had all over the globe. I still do, and he still does.

I met Pla on Mastodon where he used to post very nice pictures of his cycling rides. I might have chatted with him only few times but they were enough to transmit his energy and love of life.
I will miss his kindness and pictures of his adventures on 2 wheels.
My condolences to Patrick's family and friends.
Ride on, PLA.

I often chatted with @pla online.
His cycle rides were an inspiration. Reading his blogs, and looking a the photos and maps of his rides was joyful. The world is diminished by his untimely passing.

With countless photos while cycling, I met a good friend in the Fediversum.
Patrick gave me valuable tips for a private stroke of fate. Many private conversations have grown amicably.
My greatest respect for his performance on his bike.
I am very sad about that lost.
My condolences to the family and friends.
Friendley greats from Germany.

I was heartbroken to hear of PLA's passing. I worked with him at Home Telecom for many years. Like Jodi mentioned, I can't think of Pat without thinking of his red and green Converse at the Christmas party. He always had a great attitude and never let anything get him down. I was touched to read about all of the people he has impacted around the globe through both cycling and software development networks. The world has lost a true gem.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel about PLA's passing. I have worked with PLA for almost 17 years and it has been a pleasure getting to know him during this time. I am truly heartbroken and will miss him so much. My favorite memory of PLA is when he would show up to our Home Telecom Christmas parties wearing one red and one green Converse tennis shoe. I thought that was hilarious and only PLA could pull it off so well! Please know that your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Pat or like most of those of us who worked with him knew him, PLA was a ONE of a kind all round "GREAT GUY"! He was one of those men that could say more by saying nothing than most of us can by attempting to explain something. He was more than a coworker to me, he was one man I am so happy to call and have known as a true "friend". He is and will always be missed! God, has again taken 0ne of the good ones home! Bless you ,PLA.

I've been a privileged acquaintance of Patrick's since the beginning of the summer of 2020. We met on a Mastodon instance, and from there connected on Twitter and Strava. He was a hero to me, covering endless miles of roads like I could only dream of doing when I was a kid. Amazing strength, he had, but he always came across to me as a gentle person, always upbeat, never complaining at the hardships thrown in his path.
He told me once he was an introvert, and the proof was evident in that in the time I've known him he never talked about himself, on of his achievements, and modestly happy at that. I'll miss this character. I wish I had gotten to know him better.
RIP. Patrick. The roads are the best, the weather perfect, the winds always at your back, where you have gone.
I will miss my internet cyclist friend, Waving at you, ride the winds wherever you are...

The man that shared cycling photos with me on Mastodon and Strava, we never met, but traded barbs and stores about the locations he showed me on the other side of this country.
I will miss an amazing cyclist and friend. My best to your family in this trying time, I will miss you...

Patrick was one of my first followers on the Fediverse. I realized quickly that he was the person behind one of the most active accounts in the international cycling community. He regularly shared photos and experiences from his rides. And even though he must have experienced lots of negative encounters with aggressive drivers, he always managed to focus on the positive aspects and was always full of a "peace, keep on riding!" spirit. I am sure he not only inspired me, but people all across the globe.

Patrick was a genuinely nice guy and we will all miss his style online. He only had nice things to share, all the time. A rare treat among people.
I am hopeful that the killer is brought to justice and that his love of cycling in south carolina is brought to others who may not have had a chance to know him.

This came as a shock, not just to me, but a great deal of people in the software community Patrick was a part of. He helped me troubleshoot stuff more than once, and I could never thank him enough.
I am sorry for your loss, people who knew him in the offline world, because I believe he was even more vibrant and colourful than his online presence. I will miss his cycling updates, as his passion for what he was doing shined through in every new post like a lighthouse in the fog. I am grateful to have followed such an inspiring person as Patrick.

I never met Patrick in person. I come from Norway. Patrick would share his bike rides on the Internet, and his enthusiasm was palpable. There are many of us who enjoyed the pictures of his travels, and admired that a man of his age was in such good shape. In December, Patrick bought a copy of an imaginary map that I made. Seeing his name in my business accounts is a strange feeling. Bikers live dangerously, but I had never expected it to happen to Patrick. Best wishes to the Archibald family from Norway.

To the Archibald family, my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on your loss. Pat (Arch) was my best friend growing up. From burning up the roads on bicycles, I remember well his chopped out banana seat bike on which he could ride a wheelie over the horizon. The many adventures fishing the Goose Creek reservoir and the creek in the front of my childhood home. The times he helped on our farm so we could fish Lake Moultrie and of course his God given talent on a guitar. I am most assuredly heartbroken, but I count myself as fortunate to have called him my friend.

As a cyclist, I would regularly look at Patrick´s routes to find places to ride all around the low country. He posted all sorts of cool pictures of where he would ride. He definitely had plenty of joy and adventure! We crossed paths a couple time- I recognized him by the all yellow. Even though I never knew Patrick, the news has deeply affected me as a young cyclist. So so sad to hear about this and praying for peace for everyone!
