Patricia Morgan Obituary

Patricia Morgan Mt. Pleasant - Patricia Gainey Morgan, 90, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 7, 2022 in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Pat was born September 26, 1931 in Jackson, Mississippi, the daughter of John Lee & Pearl Burns Gainey. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Samuel Kirkpatrick Morgan; her parents and her sister, Mary Gene Gainey Kimball. She is survived by her brother, John Lee Gainey, Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi. Sam & Pat found their greatest calling raising their 4 children: Lynne Morgan Tennyson (Bobby); Samuel Kirkpatrick Morgan, Jr. (Shelly); Joseph William Morgan and Emmett Harlowe Morgan (Theresa). She treasured her 5 grandchildren: Marie Tennyson Couput (Aurelie;n) Patricia Morgan Stone (Peter); Edward Alexander Morgan (Alaina); Samuel Harlowe Morgan and Emilie Lynn Morgan. Her 4 great-grandchildren also brought her great joy: Jackson (10); Olivia (7); Marguerite (4) and Eleanore (1). In addition to her love for her family, she had a deep devotion to Bethel United Methodist Church in Charleston. The family joined Bethel in 1968 and it was her joy to serve in numerous ways, including the food bank, the pastor/parish committee, the parsonage committee, and countless others. She cherished her lifelong Bethel friendships! Pat was a devoted mother, always available to her children. For each of her children she served at their school, helping the class however needed. Pat was a long time member and 1977-1978 President of the Medical University Women's Club. The family will have a private service at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Hymnal Fund, 57 Pitt St., Charleston, SC 29401.
