Patricia Barrie Obituary

Patricia Barrie CHARLESTON - Patricia Ellen Milward Barrie, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on August 9, 2025, surrounded by family who loved her deeply. Born November 24, 1944 in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Hanrahan) Milward. She married George Barrie in May of 1965. George had a career in civil engineering, and Pat worked as a successful commercial model in New York City during the early years of their marriage. They moved to the South to raise a family. Pat and George celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary together before he passed on September 18, 2020. Pat was a graduate of St. Helena's, Bronx, New York. She possessed an entrepreneurial talent for developing her life experiences into businesses. Her experience with health issues and a true desire to help others directed her into leading a supplier of natural nutritional supplements. She shared her knowledge of modeling by starting her own company, Images of Success. Foremost in Pat's life was her strong faith in God, which carried her through difficult times. So strong was her conviction that faith can help others to overcome personal strife that she authored a book, Let Your Spirit Soar. Her life was one of quiet resilience, marked by a deep devotion to those she loved, including family, friends, and her many purrfect felines. Pat will also be fondly remembered for her cheerful sense of humor and her passion for gardening. Her gardens were not just spaces of blooming flowers, tropical plants, and palm trees, but reflections of the care, dedication, and love that she and George invested in their homes. Everyone looked forward to Pat's cooking to celebrate holidays, dinners, and family events. She and George loved nature and the water?going to the beach, boating, and swimming. Pat also advocated for the environment, and was a volunteer at Sarasota Dolphin Research Program. Pat was beautiful inside and out - kind and gracious toward everyone she met. A great storyteller, her smile and laughter were absolutely contagious. She could engage others in long conversations because of her ability to listen and share deeply. Pat Barrie was preceded in death by George Barrie (husband), George Milward (father), Margaret Hanrahan (mother), and Margaret Karpin (sister). She is survived by her daughter, Heather Barrie (Jason) of Charleston, South Carolina, son, Scott Barrie, of Bozeman, Montana; sister, Eileen Fellman (Arnold) of Bradenton, Florida and brother, George Milward (Judy) of Milford, Conneticut. A memorial service will be held on September 20th at 1 p.m. at St. Andrews Church, 440 Whilden St., Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her name be made to the Covenant House in New York City or The Salvation Army.
