Palmer Boykin Obituary

Palmer M. Boykin SUMMERVILLE - Palmer M. Boykin, 95, of Summerville, husband of Cecil Virginia Cross Boykin, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Hospice Center of Charleston, Mount Pleasant. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 3 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice Center of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Boulevard, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Mr. Boykin was born June 1, 1915, in Ridgeville, son of the late Trenholm and Minnie Lee Way Boykin. He attended Cross High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was an honorary member of the South Carolina Sheriff's Department. He retired from Sears as a furniture repairman and was a member of Stallsville United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are: two sons: Michael L. Boykin (Donna) and Roger Bruce Boykin both of Summerville, two granddaughters: Relea Boykin Meyer (Shepard) of Cottageville and Cathi Sacks of Goose Creek, one great-granddaughter: Arden Boykin of Cottageville, one sister: Blondel Whiten (Johnny) of Holly Hill and his dachshund: Ginger. He was predeceased by his great-grandson: Jacob Palmer Boykin and five brothers and one sister. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting our website at www.jamesadyal.com.
