Osgood Hamlin Obituary

HAMLIN, II, Osgood God needed a caretaker, so He made a farmer . Osgood Darby Hamlin, II, of Mount Pleasant, SC, widower of Rosa Frampton Hamlin, entered into eternal rest Monday morning in a local nursing home. The relatives and friends of Osgood Darby Hamlin, II are invited to attend his graveside funeral service, Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in Christ Episcopal Churchyard at two-thirty. Visitation will be at J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. Mr. Hamlin was born August 29, 1914 in the Pinckney House at Snee Farm in Mount Pleasant, SC, son of Osgood Darby Hamlin and Julia Welch Hamlin. He was an active farmer and owner of Hamlin Farms and Copahee Plantation founded in 1696 as well as former owner of Snee Farm. He was also a member of the South Carolina Agriculture Society and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant. Surviving are his son, Osgood D. Hamlin, III and his wife, Cindy, of Mount Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Harriet F. Hamlin of Mount Pleasant, SC and Elizabeth H. McConnell and her husband, Bonny of Awendaw, SC; five grandchildren, Osgood D. Hamlin, IV and his wife, Ginette, Danyell H. Mains and her husband, Bryan, Laura Butler Peirano and her husband, Christopher, Elizabeth A. Schirmer and her fiancé, Don Brown, all of Mount Pleasant, SC and Robert F. Schirmer, of Duluth, GA; three great grandchildren, Andrew Hamlin, Katelyn Hamlin and Ashton Mains, all of Mount Pleasant, SC.
