Dearest Barney, you will be miss so much. Since your departure I have met a lot of your friends, and feel that they are now my friends too. In all my talking with them I see there was lots more to you that I knew. I wish I could have known you better. You are in a much better place now and will not have any more pain, for that we can all be thankful. From ME, (you know who I am) and all your friends.

I am so sorry to learn that I've lost a cousin I didn't know! Loved Buddy and Hazel, Taliaferro and Gertrude. I was a daughter of Taliaferro's first cousin Taliaferro!

For all of the yachtsmen, shrimp trawler captains, the SCDNR captains, the regular boat people, the liveaboards, all of the friends that Barney touched, all the folks that went to Heyward Supply when there were no other chandlers (except Ludens..Capp!) He always had what we needed. Barney would carry you, he would tape your ticket on the post, until you could pay it. All the shrimpers he carried (and his Dad Buddy, too) until that first check came in... and Barney was always there, serious and practical..but had a lot of love inside. He will never be replaced for ...he was the only Barney. May God rest his soul.Andy Jennings. SCDNR.

I’ve been truly blessed and honored to have taken this journey with and for Barney, the privilege to have been allowed into his private and personal world to assist with his caregiving while he remained with us. My gratitude to his long time friend Gregg who has never waivered nor failed to deliver each time Barney needed home care. He is my hero. My deepest appreciation to Carroll, Amy, Carter and Britton, for their support and assistance, it was a TEAM EFFORT. AND to our neighbors who had our backs. AND OUR sincere appreciation to Millie for her fortitude.

I don’t have the history many of you have, but for me, I discovered him to be a very caring and warm person. Even though his days were full of pain, he was still concerned about how you felt and if you were ok.

We were over the fence neighbors, doing small favors for each other, that’s what neighbors are for.

My neighbors Betty and Beverly, truly good friends, have repeatedly said I was destined to be here not only for my mother during her medical issues, adopting my dog and best buddy Bella, but finding my niche to be able to assist with Barney in his final days and hopefully in the near future to honor Barney and my father, to take it forward.

I look up to you all , for it is a time to remember and honor those who are in our lives, who we are, where we are, and to honor the people who mean the most to us.

An old adage: that life only comes around once, so live, love, and be true to yourself…….

God bless Barney and to each and every one of you, my gratitude and love.

Always your neighbor and friend…..Barbara Jones

I am so glad that I got to talk to Barney on the phone, even though I didn't get to visit him while he was sick, as I am having my own medical problems. I am glad Gregg was able to be with Barney, during his illness. I know Gregg will miss his hunting and fishing Buddy. I love you. Millie

Barney was a good boy. I met him when he and my brother, David went to CHS together. He is already missed. Thank God there's no more pain. He is resting in the arms of Jesus forever! What a wonderful place!
