Ore McKenzie Obituary

Ore Lee McKenzie DORCHESTER, SC - Ore Lee McKenzie, 77, of Dorchester, husband of Leona, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Trident Medical Center. Mr. McKenzie was born October 16, 1935 in Hemingway, SC. The son of the late Samuel Wesley McKenzie and the late Gaynelle Esther Gaymon McKenzie, he served his country in the United States Army and retired as a shipwright from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. McKenzie enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting, woodworking and bowling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Shawn (Mike) Sullivan, Dawn (Kevin) Raymond, Terry (Teresa) McKenzie and Chad McKenzie; five sisters: Janice (Robert) Sweigart, Joyce Ann (Billy) Johnson, Katie (Robert) Koth, Belvi (Jimmy) Gaskins and Linda (Perry) McGowan, six grandchildren: Anne, Beth, Katie, Jessica, Kyle and Walker and one great-grandchild: Blaine. He was predeceased by a sister: Melissa Gaskins. Mrs. Leona, We are truly sorry to hear about our dear friend Mr. Ore. We truly loved both of you as one of our family members, as you both have always treated us like family. May you find comfort in the memories that you shared together and the time spent together with each other. We are only a phone call away. Take care and may God continue to keep you in his care.
