I was saddened to learn of Terry's death. I worked with him at the Center of Military History for several years and had a great time talking and joking with him. He was a hard worker and cared deeply about helping the field museums. I know he also had artistic abilities and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Truly, a man of many talents. Deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones. He wil be missed.

My Daddy was the greatest man that I knew and I'm going to miss him so much. He was the one person I turned to for everything and he always seemed to have an answer or solution to it all, its hard when I still find myself picking up the phone and getting ready to hit his name to call him. Some of my best memories were on the baseball field with him and having him coach my little league team for years. He loved that sport and being a part of it. He passed onto me his love of art and history, and has been my number one supporter in my journey through art school, guiding me and giving me pointers along the way. I'm going to miss our conversations of the Civil War and World War II, him dragging me across battlefields, from museum to museum, and our adventure one day with Hannelore looking for "his" missing cannon all over the peninsula. I grew up in these museums and art galleries and I'm so proud of the things that he accomplished with them. I'm really going to miss his sense of humor and hearing him to this day still try to convince me he found me under a rock!
But I am so thankful for the past few years I have had with him and growing closer and learning so much more about him, especially listening to him discuss Vietnam and his service over there as I just sit wide eyed and soaking it all up like a sponge. There is so much more that I wanted to know and ask, and so much more I was looking forward to. Even though a part of me is missing now, I know he's still around and watching over my sister and I. I'm just glad that he is at peace and is no longer in pain. I just want him to know I love him.

To Ms. Evans and the entire family, janice and I want to offer our condolences and let you know that we are deeply saddened by the loss or our friend, Terry. We first met Terry at Charles Taylor Art Center and quickly became friends. We were associated with him later though the Yorktown Arts Foundation, the Chesapeake Arts Foundation and his outstanding venture at Studio 107 in Norfolk. After Terry left the area, we talked by phone from time to time and exchanged occasional emails. We were aware of his illness, as he was aware of Janice's ongoing fight with cancer. We feel we have lost a great friend and a most unique personality. We shall miss him, but are sure that heaven will be all the better with his presence. I was pleased to hear that the portrait I made of Terry many years ago was displayed at his memorial. I have always loved that image.. as I felt it captured the essence of the free spirit that so defined who Terry was in this life. We wish the family all the best as you deal with this loss, and hope that your memories of Terry will sustain you.

Terry came to volunteer at the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center when we were painting the ceilings black. I forget why he first showed up to do this, I think it was to show his new artwork. He jumped right in, and while we were painting ceiling tiles on the floor, he was doing the cut in work around the light fixtures without a ladder. Next time, he said, let me know and I'll spray them all at my shop. This started a long friendship with Terry through the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center, the Chesapeake Museum, and Studio 102. He was a major artist in the "Naive Art" exhibition at Charles H. Taylor, where his work was deemed to be museum quality. I have missed him since he moved away. Love to Deborah and the family. (P.S. I still wear the pin Deborah gave to the gallery, which I bought.)

To the Evans family, how shocked I was when I opened the paper a few minutes ago and saw where Terry had passed. I have known Terry since 1963, all through our high school years, but the last time I talked to him was about 10 years ago, and then we lost touch. He was a fun, and loving guy and we always had great times togeather, he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at this time of your loss.

I never had the pleasure to meet Terry in person, but knew him well by phone and email. He was always a great help and a real pleasure to work with. He was good at his job and enjoyed doing it. He certainly guided us through many a complicated issue and our museum staff came to rely on his knowledge and kindness. We are greatly saddened to hear about his passing and will find the void he leaves behind hard to fill. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at the loss of such a wonderful person and such a great American. God Bless.

To the Evans family, how shocked I was a few minutes ago when I opened the paper and saw where Terry had passed. He and I had known each other since 1963 but hadn't talked to each for about 10 years. My prayers go out to each and every one of you at this time of your loss.
