Opal Clayton Obituary

Opal Juanita Clayton RINCON, GA - Mrs. Opal Juanita Sutton Clayton, 84, died Thursday morning, October 15, 2009, at her residence in Rincon, Georgia after an extended illness. Born May 11, 1925, in Hazelhurst, GA, she was the daughter of the late Archie Sutton and Maybell Carter Sutton. She was a long standing member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Palm Vista, Florida. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Married to the late Roy Richard Clayton, she is survived by her daughter, Teresa Carver of Rincon, GA; twin sons, Richard Clayton and wife Sharon of Guyton, GA and Ronald Clayton and wife Sandy of Johnson City, TN; two sisters, Mildred Stafford of Newington, GA and Minnie Minter and husband Bob of Crandall, GA and one brother, Johnny Sutton of Waynesboro, GA. There are 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Bob Minter, Rev. Mark Minter and Rev. Bruce Kirby. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, SC. Friends may call Saturday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry Street West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) and until the hour of the service Sunday. Memorials in her memory may be directed to: Alzheimer's Association, Palmetto Chapter, PO Box 7044, Columbia, SC, 29202-7044.
