Oneta Crawford Obituary

Oneta Valerie Crawford CHARLESTON - Oneta Valerie (Bunch) Crawford, 84, of Charleston, entered into God's kingdom on October 8, 2025. She was born February 3, 1941, to William Bailey Bunch and Oneta Elizabeth Player Bunch. Valerie, the most loving and caring mother and grandmother, is survived by her sons, Fritz H. Crawford Jr., David B. (Cheryl) Crawford, Darren R (Racquel) Crawford; granddaughters, Lauren (Mike) Eide, Jenna (Mike) Crawford, Amy Patterson Crawford; grandsons, Whitfield Crawford, Levi Crawford; great-granddaughter, Ella Crawford and three great-grandsons, Abram, Dupree, Aksel and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father; mother; sister, Jane Mims Roberts; and her brother, Frank Patterson Bunch. Valerie attended James Simons Elementary, Rivers High School and went on to get her nursing degree at Trident Technical College. Upon graduating college, she used her nursing skills at St. Francis and many years at Palmetto Behavioral Health where she continued working up until she finally retired at age 75. She was also a member of Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church. Valerie always enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and always saw the best in everyone. She would frequently tell stories about her childhood to anyone who was lucky enough to be in her company. She was a beautiful person inside and out and was always helpful and giving to anyone who needed it. She cared so deeply for the people around her and had the biggest heart. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to her hospice care family for taking such wonderful care of her the past few years, especially Deborah for all her love and support. Also thank you to Tammy for all the assistance and support throughout the years. She adored each and everyone of you. Valerie will be forever missed. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. In accordance with Valerie's wishes, a cremation has taken place followed by a burial at Magnolia Cemetery at a later date.
