Ollie Nelson Obituary

NELSON, Ollie Mrs. Ollie Mae Nelson, 94, of 222 Torrington Road, Eutawville, S.C., passed away Monday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday May 14, 2005, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Eutawville, SC; the Reverend Gary Miller, pastor, and the Reverend S.T. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Springfield Church Cemetery. She was born in Vance, S.C., a daughter of the late Mr. Lovick Bellinger and Mrs. Anna Ladson Bellinger. She grew up in Vance and attended the public schools there. Early in life, she was baptized and became a Member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Upon her marriage, she joined Springfield Baptist Church where she sang with the Senior Choir and the Gospel Chorus, was a member of the Deaconess Ministry, the Pastor's Aid Board, the Senior Missionary Society, and the Christian Aid Society. She was a member of the Eutawville Branch NAACP, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Eutawville Chapter Free Women in Christ. She was the widow of Deacon George Nelson, Sr., and was predeceased by five of their 11 children. Her survivors include her children: Reverend Sammie T. (Susan) Nelson, Ms. RosaAnn Nelson, Mrs. Ruth Richburg, and Mrs. Carrolyn (Robert, Sr.) Gethers, all of Eutawville, S.C., Mrs. Lourine Nelson of New York City, Reverend Ronald (Catherine) Nelson of Blythewood, S.C.; Sammie Billy Brown and Mrs. Rosa Lee Clark, both of Bronx, N.Y., one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Martha Nelson; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Prestine Bellinger and John Bellinger, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jacob Bellinger of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Gaillard of Vance, S.C. A wake for Mrs. Nelson will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church.
