Nicholson Tucker Obituary

Nicholson Unger Tucker MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Nicholson Unger Tucker, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC died Monday July 24th, 2017. Nick was born August 13, 1933 the son of Richard Dabney Tucker and Dorothy Hemphill Tucker in Charleston SC. He graduated from Carlisle Military School and in 1958 earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina. Nick's life after study was established near Charleston living at Limerick Plantation where he filled his days with one of his life's passion, hunting. In the late 1970s Nick moved to Myrtle Beach where he established a successful real estate development business, and was an instrumental figure in property development along the Grand Strand. To list the numerous people Nick mentored and positively influenced in real estate would be endless. In 1980 Nick met his second wife Martha Lee Byrd and in 1986 they wed. This marriage was more than a bond between two people, but two large, loving families becoming one. Years of large family gatherings, countless adventures and an ever growing love followed. Nick was one of the most intelligent, kindest and hard working men to grace this planet; and while he was always busy with his businesses, building a deer stand or coaching a little league team he always had time to assist anyone who needed it. His pilot's license allowed him to spread his great influence around the world, and many summers and weekends were filled with adventures accompanied by his loving family. Nick was known by most as "Great Nut" the endearing term his grandchildren called him, and the great component of this can never be understated. Nick will be sorely missed by many, but everyone's life who he touched will always have a lasting "Nick Tucker" or "Great Nut" memory which would include his ear to ear grin, deep belly laugh and his signature "Do Good" farewell. He is survived by his first wife Elizabeth Smith Tucker; three children Nicholson Unger Tucker, Jr. (Karen), Elizabeth Smith Tucker and Dorothy Courtenay Tucker and three granddaughters Eleanor Sargent Tucker, Helene Alexander Tucker and Charlotte Hemphill Tucker. He is also survived by his second wife Martha Lee Byrd; his step children Derrick Thomas Blanton (Charlene), Terena Ann Blanton-Downs (Andrew), Christopher Kyle Blanton and his grandson Brian Hudson Blanton (Rachel) and his two great-grandchildren Jack Hudson Blanton and Dakota Lee Blanton. I'm so so sorry! Nick used to sit right next to us at the coastal baseball games. He wore a coastal hat with a good luck feather on it. We loved him dearly!!!
He was a big fan our our Son. I think of him so often and now he and Mike can talk baseball once again! He reminded me of my own father. He will truly be missed.
He would give his shirt off his back to help someone. Coastal would probably not have that great batting area if not for Tuck!
Love you always
