Nathaniel Cooper Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Nathaniel Cooper on July 27, 2025, at the age of 22. Born on August 25, 2002, Nathaniel was the beloved son of Jonathan Powell and the late Kelly Cooper. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4pm to 6pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 6:00pm in the Chapel. A proud graduate of Ashley Ridge High School, Nathaniel was known for his vibrant spirit, big heart, and adventurous soul. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether casting a line on a quiet morning, tracking game through the woods, or turning wrenches with friends. He was never far from the outdoors or a good laugh. Nathaniel was the kind of person who lit up any room he entered. Outgoing, and always up for a good time, he was truly the life of the party. But more than that, he was loyal, kind, and always there for the people he loved. Spending time with his friends wasn't just a pastime, it was what he lived for. He was proud of his work at Scout Boats, where he brought his strong work ethic and love for hands-on craftsmanship to the team every day. Nathaniel's life, though far too short, was filled with energy, laughter, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of friendship, family, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by his father, extended family, countless friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. He is survived by his loving father, Jonathan Powell; his siblings: Trenton David Powell and Emmalyn Skylar Powell; his grandparents: Cheryl Renee Cooper "Nana", Kelly Ann Powell "Grammy, and Horis Powell "Granddaddy"; his great grandmother, Mary Carolyn Chavis "Grandma"; as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving mom, Kelly Cooper; as well as his great grandfather, Windall Chavis.
