Nathan Straus Obituary

I remember Nathan as professional, kind, and always having a smile to share.

I will always remember Nathan. His fun-loving presence was always felt and his energy lifted people up. I miss having conversations with him reminiscing about our days at C of C and working at O'Brians. I miss you!

To Anna and all of your family. We just learned of Nathan's passing. We are deeply saddened by this unimaginable loss. Please know we are keeping you in our prayers and hope that you will find the peace and strength to carry on your life and that of your beautiful children. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Dear Loved Ones of Nathan ~ I just learned of Nathan's passing and it hit me like a sucker punch in the dark. What a wonderful man and kind person! He was my advisor for 10 years, but he was much more than that term embodies. He will be terribly missed, and I am so very very sorry for your loss.

Dearest Vicki, Brian, Paul, Anna and the children, I cannot begin to tell you how much my heart hurts. My son, Jason, called me last night to tell me that we had lost Nathan. What a beautiful young man he was, inside and out. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

Nathan was such a wonderful father. He would be seen around Stella Maris with one child in his arms, one child around each leg, and the oldest Phillip leading the pack with his bright smile like his Dad's. He would sit on the floor of the nursery and play with his children and as soon as he got the order from the door, he would gather his troop and proceed to communion. He told the nursery staff that his wife and children made him the happiest person in the world. We are so sorry for your loss.

Nathan will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Straus Family, heartfelt condolensces. Nathan was a childhood friend and while we lost touch over the years it is comforting to see that the personality and spirit that drew so many people to become his friend at that time, carried through his lifetime.

All of us at Stella Maris Parish are praying for you and your sweet babies. Although, I personally have not met you or Nathan, please know I feel your pain and want to send you many blessings and grace through Our Blessed Lord. I have been a parishoner at Stella Maris all my life and our family have received all the sacraments there. Four daughters, and many baptisms there with Father McInerny. That church is a special place with many healing properites, I feel. I fervently pray that God will give you the courage and faith to carry on and know His love and guidance is constantly with you. You may not have blood family relatives here now, but, with your sweet acceptance, you will be open to many authentic friends, who in time, will become family. Walter, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know we have been out of touch for a while but if you need anything please don't hesitate to call me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Nathan helped me plan for my daughter's future shortly after she was born. His willingness to discuss the what if's in life and the reality of what may happen to us, and what our family's will do when we are gone, was one of the most surreal conversations I have ever had. And now the reality of his passing is heartbreaking. My prayers are with his wife and children. He was a blessing to my family.

I met Nathan about 5 years ago. We shared many special moments going camping, rafting, golfing, and working out. His positive attitude was refreshing. I enjoyed listening to him talk about Anna and the kids. I'm going to miss him. My prayers go out to his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with Anna, Brian and their families. I will keep in my memory the kindness and wisdom Nathan imparted on me and my orthopedic resident colleagues.

Words can not express our deepest condolences and the true sadness we feel by this news. My friendship with Nathan started almost 20 years ago in the C of C weightroom. After that we worked together, played together, and stayed in touch over the years. We reconnected last summer for some financial planning and my wife had a chance to meet the long time friend I spoke of often.
Nathan's smile, passion, love, and friendship will forever be missed.

I lost my father the same way a year ago this Saturday. May you lean on your faith and family during these tragic and surreal times. I pray for you and will think of you often. I was a resident at MUSC Dept. of Dermatology when he gave lectures. Very bright and friendly man who spoke of all of you often. He will be missed.
