Nancy Halewood Obituary

Nancy Jackson Halewood WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Our mother passed away peacefully on May 4th in Winston-Salem, NC, ending her long struggle with Alzheimer's. Nancy was born in Fall River, MA. She graduated from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Nursing School and devoted her professional life to serving those with mental illness. After moving to Charleston in 1991, Nancy was instrumental in the implementation of a rural mental health outreach program (ROADS) through CDMH.. Nancy is survived by her children: Doug (Cindy) Halewood (Mt Pleasant, SC); Wendy (Mike) Brenner (Winston-Salem, NC); and Robin Halewood (Ted) Guerard (Mt. Pleasant, SC). "Geema" to her grandchildren: Zach Halewood, Emma Blumstein, Lindsay Halewood, Rachel Halewood, Sam Blumstein, and Mary Guerard, and to her 2 great-grandchildren: Jackson and McCrae. She is also survived by Jessica Ullianelli (niece) and Galen Moustakes (nephew). Nancy loved her rescue dogs, the beach, gardening, jazz music, and reading. Our family offers gratitude to Rona Klein and the staff of Westerly Place at Salemtowne, as well as the caring committee of St. Anne's Church. If you would like to make a donation on Nancy's behalf we suggest St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 2690 Fairlawn Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or Alzheimer's Assoc Salemtowne Walk for the Cure https://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk/?pg=team&fr_id=14628&team_id=660825.
