Nancy Blanks Obituary

Nancy Isabella Lyons Blanks HANAHAN - Nancy Isabella Lyons Blanks, 98, of Hanahan, South Carolina, widow of Curtis William Blanks, entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 30, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment will be private at Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service. Nancy was born September 20, 1925 in England, daughter of Alexander Lindsay and Isabella Prentice Lindsay. Isabella worked as a registered nurse since 1952 in England, Canada, the USA and trained in Liverpool, UK. She ended her career at MUSC Nurses Inc. She loved delivering babies and nurturing premature babies. Nancy rode around in England on a bicycle as a midwife and delivered over 800 babies. She left school when she was 14 years old during WW2. She learned how to weld and welded flash tubes on anti-aircraft guns. She was a member of Wando Woods Baptist Church and was known as the hat lady. She is survived by her son, Lindsay Blanks (Claudette); grandson, Bryant Blanks all of Hanahan, SC; ten nieces and nephews in England; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews in England.
