I am so sad for the Lutz family. Through Dr. Lutz' brilliant healing and caring, I was saved from ovarian cancer in 1995. I have thought of him very often since he retired in 2007, with a grateful heart. Rest in peace my dear doctor friend.

Amy, Ken and Judy,
I was so sad to hear about Myron's passing. He was such a great guy to work with. As a young pathologist, he would always try to instill confidence and remind me of a difficult diagnosis that I helped him with. Such a sweet man. Hope you all are doing well. You all are in my thoughts.

So many memories are flooding through my mind. Judy, my dearest friend, I want to share one of the best of them. You and Myron came to visit us for a weekend, and the drive was hard on Myron. He didn't get much sleep because Carlton snored so loudly. Then there was the black towel incident! But all the tension melted away when we took a boat ride down the Silver River and laughed our heads off. We still tell that story and laugh about it all. We loved Myron and love you and your family so much.

Always sad to see contemporary colleagues pass on. I will remember Myron as a dedicated and skilled doctor and a good friend. He was among other accomplishments instrumental in creating the Private Practice arm of the SGO, together with us pioneers in this field and with considerable opposition from the establishment. Rest in peace after a life well lived,
Staffan

Dear Judy, Mark, Sheri and Ken -
I am so happy I had the chance to spend a few days with you and Myron a couple of years ago in Charleston. Our time spent together through the years may not have been many and long, but each visit was always so special. How lucky you were to have had Myron in your lives for so long... but then again, it certainly wasn't long enough. My heart goes out to all of you over your loss, for it is a tremendous one that only time will help to ease the pain that goes with it. Smile, laugh, and remember all the wonderful times you all shared together because you know that's probably what Myron would want for all of you. I love you and wish I could be with you at this time.
Your cousin Lori in California

Dear Judy, dearest Sheri and family,
my loving thoughts and deepest sympathy to you all. I regret not having had the privilege of meeting Myron personally, but I was very touched by his kindness to me many years ago when I had just been diagnosed with cancer. With his knowledge, and above all with great warmth and understanding he helped to push the fears away. That memory is part of me. With love, Susan

My deepest sympathy to Judy and the rest of the family. I have lost not only a colleague but also a very dear friend in Myron. We chatted just about six weeks ago and spoke movingly about our friendship. I was in the operating room two days ago dealing with a surgical problem and I could not help recalling from the hinterland of my many experiences with Myron how many times we had dealt with this particular problem. Returning home the day after, I learned of his passing. He was a perfectionist in the operating theater; he had the best pair of hands that I have encountered in any gynecologist. His patients loved and highly admired him, and well they did for he was a great human being!

Praying for the family during this difficult time. Dr. Lutz was one of the best doctors I've ever met. He cared about all of his patients. He and Nancy always had a beautiful smile on their faces when they entered the room. Dr. Lutz was my grandmother's doctor. When she was diagnosed with uterine cancer, he went through everything with us as if he was our family. He then became my mom's doctor, then mine. Over 30+ years of knowing someone so wonderful. I know Heaven has a place for him because his heart was filled with love and compassion. He will greatly be missed. We will love Dr. Lutz always. Forever grateful!

Dear Lutz family,
Thinking of you and praying you will find strength and peace at this very sad time. I had the opportunity and honor to work with Dr.Lutz and help care for his patients for many years as a nurse at Roper Hospital. He was an amazing, talented and truly devoted physician. He also always took time to teach, encourage, challenge and motivate us to be the best nurses we could be. He had an unforgetable sense of humor and never gave up hope in any circumstance. He will forever be remembered and missed by many.

Myron Lutz was a physician's physician-
Intelligent, wise, compassionate, and hard working. He was a mentor and a friend. For over 25 years, I benefitted as I watched his skill in action. His patients adored him and he returned their love. People like Myron don't come by often, but when they do, the rest of us are just lucky to have learned from them. Condolences from Christine and I to Judy, the children and grandchildren and to all who knew him. He will be missed. Bill Brener and Christine Lloyd

I was an anesthesiologist at Roper Hospital and I worked with Myron for many years. In addition to being a truly excellent surgeon, he was known as one the most caring physicians any of us had ever known. His compassion for patient's family members was boundless. In the operating room he would do the most meticulous surgery for hours and hours when all of us knew that the chances for complete cure was nearly zero. He knew that those chances were not completely zero and felt that every patient deserved the chance to be one of those still surviving years later.
Myron was also a good personal friend, and I will never forged the professional and personal support he gave me when I had great difficulties many years age.

I met Myron and was tutored by him in GYN Oncology in 1973 at Jackson Hospital in Miami where he was a fellow and I an intern. I returned to Charleston for residency at my Alma Mater MUSC and, lo and behold, there he was, a faculty member in the Department of OB-GYN as a GYN Oncologist. Great news! I continued to work under him and, more importantly, with him.
He was a gifted teacher, always taking extra time to pass on some of his wealth of knowledge. His personal specialty was patient care, always fighting and innovating. He listened to patients and their families. He exemplified character - compassion, humility, and work ethic. A lasting impression.
After I finished residency and he was n private practice, he did me the honor of caring for my wife Jan and delivering our first child. He is fondly remember by both of us.
My sympathy and condolences to Judy and his family. God bless you.

When my husband and I told my doctor at Johns Hopkins that we were moving to Charleston, he immediately said that the doctor for me was Myron Lutz and that he would notify him that I would be calling. Dr. Lutz took me on as a patient and I was with him until his retirement. That was a very sad day for me. Such a kind and compassionate person!
I am so sorry to read of his passing.
