Morris Reeves Obituary

Morris Reeves CHARLESTON - Morris E. Reeves, 81, of Charleston entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Morris was born on August 19, 1931 to the late Virgil and Ruby Reeves in Cottageville. He was a Navy veteran and honorably served our country during the Korean War. He served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Valley Forge. He was an enthusiastic fisherman and an Atlanta Braves fan. He spent a lifetime career as a grocery manager and was a mentor to all of his employees. He was an ardent supporter of the Shriner Hospital and was a member and Deacon of Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ruby Bell Reeves of Charleston; five daughters, Coila Burke (Tony) of Goose Creek, Gerri Sosa (Nestorio) of Charleston, Robin Heustess (Joe) of Ravenel, Catherine Culpepper (Frankie) of Greenville, Susan Fischer (Jack) of North Charleston; one son, Andrew Mack of North Charleston; five grandchildren, Benjamin Capa, Jyles Sosa, Justin Burke, Breanne Burke and Matthew Culpepper. He was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Kaylie Hyder and Peyton Jade Capa. He is also survived by three half-sisters, Joyce Harvey, Norma Strickland, Helen McElveen; and one half-brother, Johnny Reeves. He was predeceased by his half-sister, Alice Wilkerson. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Rd., Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 Visitation will take place on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 pm in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 12:00 pm in Carolina Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Ruby my prayers go out to you and your family. Mr. Reeves was a wonderful person! I'd visit him at the grocery store after Gerri and I'd grown up, he always had nice things to say to me! His girls were very lucky to have such a special father. He will be missed.

To the Reeves family and Mrs Reeves I am so sorry for your loss of Mr Morris I drove a pepsi truck back in the 80s and the doschers store on savannah hwy was on my route which is where I first met Mr Reeves and let me just say he was a very stern man but also very fair and he had a heart of gold there will never be another man like Mr Reeves.may god bless him and keep him safe in his arms forever

I am very sorry for your loss . I stopped by this evening Spoke With Mrs Reeves Just for a minute I Just lost my dad mr Rooker a little while ago. And am sorry you girls are haveing to go threw this your self .i remember when we were kids your dad was really cool . Mrs Reeves was my first boss many years ago. He was a great person to know. I feel my life was blessed to be called a friend of his. I kept in touch with him and Mrs Ruby through all the years and I am so happy I was able to stay close to him. I will truely miss him forever, but I know he is in a better place now. His family was very lucky to have such a great father.
