Minnie Hurteau CHARLESTON - Minnie Bostick Hurteau, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina entered into eternal rest Monday, January 27, 2025. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 in St. Philip's Church, 142 Church Street at 2:00 pm. Interment to immediately follow in St. Philip's Churchyard. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel. Minnie was born December 2, 1939, in Columbia, South Carolina, daughter of Evelyn Davant Bostick and Mary Langley Bostick. She was a cherished matriarch, devoted military wife, and steadfast pillar of her family and community. Minnie grew up embodying the values of faith, family, and kindness that became the hallmarks for her remarkable life. As a devoted spouse of the late Gen. Joseph Coleman Hurteau, (U.S. Army retired), she embraced the role of military wife with grace and resilience, steadfastly supporting her husband's service while creating a stable and loving home for her children no matter where life took them. As a homemaker, Minnie poured her heart and soul into raising three children, instilling in them the values of integrity, compassion, and faith. Her children, grandchildren and extended family were her pride and joy, and her love for them was the foundation of a family that spans generations. Minnie had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome, always with a warm smile on her face and deep care for others. Whether hosting family gatherings or offering a helping hand, her presence was always a haven of warmth and generosity. Her legendary dinners, complete with homemade Hurteau's casserole, were treasured traditions that brought loved ones together and kept her family close. In her community, Minnie was known for her servant's heart. A faithful member of St. Philip's Church and an active volunteer in the Designer House of Charlotte, she exemplified selflessness and a commitment to uplifting others. Her grace, kindness, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Minnie is survived by her son, Joseph Coleman Hurteau, Jr.; two daughters: Kathryn Hurteau (Gray) Ives, Mary Hurteau (Joe Harris) Delk; six grandchildren: Ashely Hurteau( Ryan) Heinemann, Spencer Coleman (Savannah Marie) Hurteau, Grayham Hurteau Ives, Anne Langley Ives, Coleman Briggs Delk, Samuel Hurteau Delk, Joseph Jackson Harris; sister-in-law, Sharon Hurteau; nephew, James Stannard (Jayme) Hurteau, II; grand-nephew, James Stannard Hurteau III, grand-nieces: Caroline Taylor Hurteau, Macallan Sinclaire Heinemann. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Joseph, and other dear family members who preceded her in death. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her sweet smile, her quiet strength, and her unwavering love. While her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, her legacy of love and faith will endure in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
