Mildred Rhodes Obituary

Mildred Webster Rhodes ESTILL, SC - Mildred Webster Rhodes of Estill, SC, widow of Dr. Louis D. Rhodes, died early Thursday morning at Bishop Gadsden in Charleston, SC, after a brief illness. She was born, July 22, 1921 in Cheraw, SC, the daughter of Pattie E. and Walter G. Webster. Mildred led a long and productive life. She lived in Estill, SC for 60 years, working with her husband. "Dr. DEE and Miss Mildred" touched the lives of many patients. She definitely had a love for flowers. Her yard was full of many flowers which included azaleas, camellias, and hydrangeas, which she grew from cuttings. Mildred was a member of Lawtonville Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She had fond memories of wonderful times spent with her Estill friends. She previously was a member of the Social Dozen, the Reading Club, and Church Circles. In 2006 Mildred moved to Bishop Gadsden and lived independently for 7 years. From the time she moved in until the time she passed away, she was surrounded by wonderful friends. She would often tell them her motto was "to make a friend you must be a friend". Her apartment #134 was always in bloom. Friends at Bishop Gadsden loved walking by her apartment admiring her flowers. Many thanks go out to all of her loving friends in Estill, SC and for those at Bishop Gadsden who cared so deeply for her. She loved you all. Survivors include: one daughter, Patti Rouse (Bill) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons: Dan Rhodes (Carolyn) of Bluffton, SC, and Charles Rhodes (Jane) of Brevard, NC; four sisters: Polly Jefferies, Nancy Parker, Josephine Stepanian, and Vermelle Converse; two brothers: Freddie Webster, and Jackie Webster; one granddaughter: Regan Weston; three grandsons: Craig Rhodes, Austin Rhodes, and Rhodes Rouse; four great-grandchildren: Lacey Rhodes, Morgan Rhodes, William Weston, and Wyatt Rhodes.
