Dear Mildred. I will speak to you as if you are alive because the Bible tells us, absent from the body is present with Christ. We have been away for 3 weeks and were unaware of your passing. It was probably 25 years ago that I or my brother would pick you up on the way down to Kiawah. You did not know at the time that we were brothers, but knew we had a similar accent. You are a woman of great courage. You understood adversity and affliction, but carried it with a grace. You wasted no time in talking about the Lord and I a grateful that our family had such a wonderful and deep relationship for so many years. We often invited you to family events because we consider you family. The last time I spoke to you was a early September, as you had called to say that you were in hospital and in need of a phone. We did not hear from you again before we left and so on our return we discovered that you had passed. Although this saddens us, we know that you are in the loving arms of Jesus and we thank him for your life. We will always remember that "eee heee" laugh of yours.

My dear friend Millie. I am going to miss you. You had the gift of encouragement and you never knew a stranger. I always marveled at how you spoke to everyone you passed by. Your laughter filled a room. Thank you for caring enough to call me often to ask how I was doing. You were an example of courage in the midst of great adversity.
I love you Millie, rest in peace.
