Mildred Cox Obituary

Mildred B. "Millie" Winningham Cox N. CHARLESTON - Mildred B. "Millie" Winningham Cox, 89, widow of Dillon Thomas Cox, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Mrs. Cox was born in Calhoun County to the late Joseph Winningham and Ida Sweat Winningham. She retired from Swift & Company and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Millie loved to dance, especially the Shag and the Jitterbug. Surviving are a son, David Cox and wife Karen; five grandchildren, Sandra Fischer, Kim Elkins, David Cox Jr. and wife Vicky, Micah Cox and fiance Jenni Butler, and Tabetha Cox; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Peggy Cox and Linda Cox; two brothers, Frank Winningham and T.L. Winningham; and a sister, Betty Phillips. Funeral services will be 3 pm Saturday at Stuhr's North Area Chapel (2119 Dorchester Road, N. Charleston), followed by burial in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 - 2:45 pm.
