Michael Snipes Obituary

Michael "Mike" Eugene Snipes IRMO, SC - IRMO Funeral service for Michael "Mike" Eugene Snipes, 58 of Irmo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston, S.C. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Snipes died Saturday, September 15, 2012. Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Edward Eugene Snipes and Gloria Goodwin Drain. Mike was the husband of Barbara Bestul Snipes. An avid golfer and outdoorsman, he loved boating and fishing and was a member of Mid-Carolina Golf Club and the MGA. Mike loved his family, his friends and loved life. Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara, are his daughter, Miranda Lee Platone (Justin); grandson, Holden Everett Platone; sisters, June Smith (Steve), Lisa Smith, Tami Hadwin (and friend, Nick); sister-in-law, Sharon Nelker (Bruce); numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Everett Ward; brother, Billy Hadwin; and sister, Brenda Barker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Richland Children's Hospital, Palmetto Health Foundation, PO Box 602575, Charlotte, NC 28260-2575.
