Michael Smith Obituary

Michael Wayne Smith DORCHESTER - Michael Wayne Smith, 72, of Dorchester, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014. His Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 3, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Michael was born May 7, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Charles Luther Smith and Virginia Barrow Smith. He was a retired appliance salesman. Michael was a Mason, and enjoyed coaching baseball, as well as playing fantasy baseball. He was a member of Maple Cane Baptist Church. He is survived by his sons, Douglas T. (Maygan) Smith of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Curtis (Esme) Smith Carter of Greenville, SC; and his grandchildren, Hudson Smith, Caleb Smith, Koda Smith, and Henry Carter. Michael was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Charles Smith, Robert Smith, Gertrude Young, and Emily Sharpe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of SC, Memorial Processing Center, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Sorry for your loss. Mike and I worked together at wholesale appliance till about 2005. And I remember him as being well liked and with a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
