Ol Friend I still think of you so much. Talking by phone and by email. I often think of the times we had working together at the home center. I know you are enjoying your time in Heaven walking the golden streets...seeing the sites to many to be told. When I get there, Sheila and I will see you in all your glory. Love you my brother.

After reading the posted memory messages I can humbly agree with all comments. I knew Mike from my association with IBSA when I worked with International Paper. Saw him at most every IBSA show and on several Talladega race trips. Visited his store for the oyster roast also. I never left being around Mike without felling encouraged, uplifted, and ALWAYS a smile on my face plus the love of a friend in my heart! He was truly a gentleman's gentleman and I will miss our talks (yes and jokes) more than you know. To his family I know he will be missed and I assure you Mike lives on in the being/hearts of all that knew him.... God bless you, and the treasures your experiencing, as I will never forget the treasures you gave/taught me.
I love you my Brother,
Reed Hill

We met Mike about six years ago when we moved next door to Mike and Carol while we were building our home. You could not ask for better neighbors, they were so welcoming to us. Then, as we were building our home, of course we purchased our building materials through Mike at Guy C. Lee. He could not have been more helpful and was so kind and generous to us. We will not forget his smile and gracious welcome each time we saw him, whether at work or out and about town. We send our sincere sympathy to Carol and their family. I know your hearts are broken, and I hope you can find some comfort in the words of the many people whose lives were touched by Mike. He was a true gentleman.

Everything said about this great man is true. I started work for him almost 20 yrs ago and he was a great mentor and father figure in my professional as well as private life even after parting ways on my own career path. One of the few people who would look you in the eye and shake your hand and you knew there was no doubt whatever it was would be done. I hope his dear family finds peace in this time of loss and I can only aspire to work hard every day to be anywhere near the man he was. Love you Mike.

I met Mike when he was first establishing Guy C Lee in The Charleston Market. From the old, cold, tin building where he began---to the facility today, which is one of the most highly reconized, respected, building material businesses anywhere: is a monument to Mike. He did things the right way, was a ginuine, gentleman; and, I was honored to work with him over the years. Our industry was fortunate to include Mike, and I am better person because of our association.

My sympathy and prayers to all the family. I am glad that we were able to be with Mike last Christmas at the Kendall family reunion. I never dreamed that Mike would be gone so soon. He helped Judy and I in planning our home in Martinsville when he worked for Lester Home Builders. Gpd bless all the family.

I have been coming to Guy C Lee for some 25 years....Mike was more than a manager....He was a good friend, full of both building knowledge, and kindness. He was old school....when a handshake was one's bond, and when someone needed a hand, his hand was there to help.
I can't tell you enough, what a blessing it was to know Mike. From our discussions on building issues, to stupid jokes, to his wonderful fish fries, to the Toys for Tots drives, and just the everyday going ons we shared, I loved Mike as a brother.
We were blessed in his coming, may we be blessed in his passing. My deepest condolences to his wife and family...

Mike and I were best friends in grade school often staying over at each others homes. We lost touch in high school as the kids on his side of 58 went to FC and my side to Drewry Mason. I sent him a msg at his last high school reunion and fully regretting now I did not look him up sooner. Prayers for the family

I can not discribe how much this man meant to me and my family! He was more to me then a boss, he was like a father! His passing is one of the toughest loses I have ever experienced.
My life will never be the same, but I am so
grateful to have had the honor of being apart of his life.. Not a day will go by that I won't miss this incredible man. Rest In Peace!
