Michael Holt Obituary

Michael Ray Holt LADSON - Michael Ray Holt passed away peacefully at his home in Ladson, South Carolina on Thursday, April 29, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Mike retired as a highly decorated Senior Master Sergeant after a 24-year career in the US Air Force. During his career, he served in the Vietnam War, Desert Storm and as a member of the Strategic Air Command. His last posting was in Okinawa. Japan, where he was named 1st Sgt of the Year in the 692nd Intelligence Group. Mike graduated from Lamar High School, where he played basketball and baseball. After high school, he attended North Greenville University. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, being very active while stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. Upon his retirement, the family moved to Charleston, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Polly and Ernest Holt of Lamar. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Williams Holt; daughters, Jennifer Holt, Lisa Holt Hall, grandson, Elisha James Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Lin Register; nephews, Lee and Mark Register; great-nephews, Ashton, Daniel, and Julian Register. Mike was a great animal lover, especially his German Shepherds. He also loved working out in the gym, as well as keeping up with his many friends on Facebook. No services are planned at this time.
