Michael Guess Obituary

GUESS, Michael LANCASTER - After a lengthy illness, Michael Wayne Guess died November 27, 2006 in Lancaster, SC. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lynda Wood Guess and daughter Lydia Jean Guess of Lancaster, SC; three brothers: Jeriel T. Guess, Jr. and wife Linda of Summerville, SC; Dr. Frank Mitchell Guess and wife Margo of Knoxville, TN; and Keith A. Guess and wife CB of Summerville, SC; nieces: Katherine Guess of Maryville, TN; Meg Guess of Charleston, SC; and Julia Guess of Summerville, SC; nephew James Olin Guess of Socorro, NM.; his aunt Abbie Guess Bozard and husband James Bozard of Gilbert, SC; and his aunt Mildred Poole of Columbia, SC. Born in Orangeburg, SC, the son of the late Jeriel T. Guess, Sr. and Gladys Poole Guess, he was a Summerville High School graduate and earned a B.S. in mathematics from Charleston Southern University(formerly Baptist College at Charleston).He earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education from the Citadel and taught mathematics in Dorchester and Berkeley Counties. He retired from the U.S. Social Security Administration. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a former member of the Charleston Southern University Board of Trustees. A memorial service will be held on November 30 at 3:00 pm at Covenant Baptist Church, Lancaster, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:30 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dr. and Mrs. James H. Storm Family Endowed Scholarship, the Jairy C. Hunter, Jr. / Lancaster Endowed Scholarship at Charleston Southern University, P.O.
