Michael Gay Obituary

Michael Kim Gay ST. LOUIS, MO - Michael Kim Gay passed away on May 18, 2016, at his home in St. Louis, MO. Mike was born October 26, 1951, in San Diego, California, to Jeanne Davis Gay and Laverne William Gay, and was a dear brother to Kit Gay, Betsy Gay Smith, Bill Gay (d.2009) and Tim Gay (d.1993). Mike was the devoted husband of Peggy Eckstrom Gay; adoring father of Judd McClain, Eli Gay, and Stephen Gay; loving step-father of Ashley Allen Villanueva and Erica Allen Horten; "Grampa Mike" to Lindsay and Kayla McClain, Milo and Lucia Duff-Gay, Delphi Starn, EJ Villanueva, and Oliver Horten; "Uncle Mike" to many nieces and nephews; and mutually loved by dear in-laws and friends. A 1970 graduate of Bishop England High School, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, served in Okinawa, Japan, was honorably discharged in 1972 and joined the Marine Corps Reserve. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering at Trident Tech in 1977 and began his professional career with Rast and Associates. He moved to St. Louis in 1989 with HBE Corporation and spent the past 16 years with SSC Engineering. Mike was an active member of Windsor Crossing in St. Louis, where his faith flourished as he served in their KIDZ, men's, and couples' ministries. Recreation and community service were high priorities for Mike, preferably with family in the great outdoors. Mike's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, June 11 at 2pm at Seacoast Church, 750 Long Point Road, Mt. Pleasant. Flowers are welcome, and donations to Cancer Support Community of St. Louis are encouraged (www.cancersupportstl.org). Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston
