We of the T-Burg Nation have lost a very worthy warrior,
Michael French was and always will be a close friend and Brother to many of the T-Burg Community.. Mike, I will always love you and remember you as one of the very best friends a person could have.. Rest in Peace My Friend...
My tears flow fast for you.....

Hey bubba...Its been almost 2 years since you vanished in that God aweful blaze. You are missed more and more everyday...Some days are bearable and then there are those that just arent even breathable.We have 8 days left til that dreadful day.....My stomach is in knots and my nerves are on edge....But anyways I just wanted to say I love you and miss you so much.....and so does Kyle and Kelsi and Clark.....we love you bubba...

I find myself reading this book over again. I do it when I have hope that you will be back and this is just a nightmare. I turn to this as proof I guess that your not coming home and the next time I will see you is when my day comes. One year is only 3 weeks away it still feels like I'm living in that week. Frenchie Frenchie Frenchie man I still canot belive that you are not here It seems like yesterday we were in our house in tall pines haveing them good old times I will never forget the times we spent fighting fire at CBFD and shooting off you know them fireworks in the back yard yea the good times going to PRFD riding on eng 24. I wish I could just take that day away or just been there with you. Well you got your 2 dreams getting on with the CFD and going out in the big one and getting that full fire dept funeral riding out on top of that fire truck. Man I am going to miss you I still call you phone to see if you are going to pick up that phone. Rest in peace Mikey

I was one of the many people that had the fortune of working with Mike when he started his career at Old Fort Fire Department. His loss will be felt by all who knew him. He will always be remembered.

Heaven’s Firefighters’ Shore

All day long on earth, he fought the fire with all his soul,
Now he’s in Heaven , where the streets are paved with gold.
No more sirens awake him at night, no more sweat upon his face,
He’s walking down those streets now, yes, he’s in a higher place.

No need to check his air tank, or shine his black stripe boots,
No need to check his helmet or to patch his heavy suit.
He doesn’t need to hurry , he doesn’t have to rush,
There’s no fires in Heaven, just a small burning bush.

He remembers his last fire, it seemed like yesterday,
He reaches up and touches his cheek, he wipes a tear away.
He remembers times he felt the heat, so hot, it seemed like Hell.
But he knows the job is getting done, his buddies will do it well.

As he looks down and sees his buddies, each fighting the flame,
He remembers each one well and calls them all by name.
His face is wet with tears, his heart is full of pride,
“Remember me” he says, “I am there by your side‘’.

The fire has been put out, the trucks have gone, his buddies now at rest,
He knows that he must leave them, and he knows they passed the test.
Tonight he will sleep softly, listening for the call he’ll hear no more,
For he is now among the best, resting on Heaven’s Firefighter Shore.

Well Mike E Baby, I went to see your sister after all this, still praying you were gona pop out and jump in the patrol car and say "LETS ROLL!" Like so many times before, teaching me the short-cuts around the county, but your daughter told me the news,

I got the point now, but dam, I'm going to miss you my brother.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

The short time I knew Mikey for I quickly realized he was a special person, as well as kind and caring. I am honored to have known him and his memories with me will stay alive. Not long ago, I lost my house to a raging fire, and I will always respect and hurt for the HEROES that were lost on Monday, they do a service that the rest of run from. My hat is off to the all firefighters that risk their lives to save ours. May God be with you in these dark hours.

I did not know Mr. French personally but this event has truly touched my heart and something I will never forget. I wanted to share with you as I rode over the James Island connector the day after, I noticed that the sunset was directly over the area of West Ashley. It was like no other I have seen before. The suns rays were shining down thru the clouds and the way it was doing so appeared to be 9 rays of light.. I wished I had a camera to share with everyone because I truly know in my heart that those rays of light were of 9 heros shining down on all of us. May you find comfort from the memories and beauty in the sunset knowing that they are shining down on you all.
