To the family and friends of Scott Bush,

Although I didn't know Scott personally, anyone who participates in Bridge to Bridge shares a common bond for the love of cycling and life in general. I am sure Scott was doing what he loved best when he left us and I wish only the best to his loved ones.

To the family of Scott:
I was a rider at b2b and did not finish due to a mechanical problem. My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. I will be back next year and will ride in honor of Scott

Scott and I were team members at Centura Bank for many years together. I learned a lot from him. He was a gifted man in many ways. We will be adding to the many that I know are praying for comfort and security for his family.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I am a fellow rider, and I road B2B this year. Riding is the ultimate experience of freedom, and I am sure Scott was in an amazing "place" before he passed. I send my most positive thoughts to you and your family in this time of grief.

What a legacy Scott left and what an incredible example he gave to all of us. Scott was one of those rare individuals that was loved by everyone who knew him. He was truly a giver to mankind.

I first met Scott 5 years ago when we conducted enrollment meetings together for a local firm in Salisbury. I was amazed at his committment to assisting each employee. We will surely miss working with him. God bless you with a calming peace during this sorrowful time.

I will pray for you and your family. You know: All you get for riding the BTB ride is a patch, But Michael got the far best gift that you could ever get. He got everlasting life! Now that's a wonderful gift! Amen

I heard about what had happened shortly after I had finished riding Bridge to Bridge. Scott was a tremendous cyclist, and he must have been even more of a tremendous father, husband, and son. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I only had the pleasure of spending one day with Scott and that was the day he showed my husband, Dan and myself the route up NC 181. He was so nice and willing to slow down for me since I was the slowest of the four.



Although I do not know you, my heart aches for you and your family. May God provide you with His peace and comfort in this time of sorrow.

My memories are those of a fit, energetic, kind man who brought a smile to the face of those around him. Scott was certainly known to many as a strong cyclist, but what comes to mind as I think of him know is how he spoke of his family and his faith. I am so sorry for your loss. I never knew Scott but I wish I could have had the opportunity to meet him.

I grew up in Statesville and moved away in 1993. If I am not mistaken you graduated from Statesville High School in 1982. My brother Brad graduated with you. I attended First Presbyterian Church as a kid.

I have ridden the Bridge to Bridge all 18 years now and you can bet that every time I go back I will think of Scott.

I also did not know Scott but participated in the ride Sunday. Recently my pastor died, and my mother sent me an e-mail saying that he was having a fine time in Heaven and that the angels were rejoicing. Even knowing that what she wrote was very true, I was sad because I still wanted him here.

I can only imagine a small amount of what you are facing. God promises to provide strength, comfort, and courage, and His shining moments seem to occur when we need Him most.

You were cheering on your husband and father on Sunday, and I believe that he is now cheering for you also.

I was so sorry to hear of Scott's passing. I only rode with him a few times, when he would catch me out on the roads around Statesville. Even though Scott was a better rider than me, he would slow down and talk for a while. I found him to be a kind person who was great to talk to. I saw him on Sunday on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was pedaling and smiling - just like everytime I saw him. You and your family will be in my prayers.

I never met your husband but wish I had, he sounded like an exceptional person but it's not surprising; our sport seems to attract good people. I did not know Scott but was in the ride he was in. At some point it is likely that we rode side by side. It is indeed the ride of a lifetime and it says a lot about him that he would take on this very difficult ride, Bridge to Bridge, that most people would never think of trying. Scott was not only a friend, but someone of true warmth and compassion. He wore many hats, and wore them well. None were more important to him than those of father, husband and friend. He touched many lives in his too brief time with us, and he will be sorely missed. We are honored to have known him, and we will sorely miss him. In this time of great sorrow, we can remember Scott's wonderful sense of humor and try to celebrate his life, so richly lived. He will be in our hearts forever.

Scott raced on my DeFeet team several years back and always had a very positive and friendly attitude. I saw Scott on 181 and cracked a joke with him about still having the clothes he wore when he raced with me, he then smiled and waved. Scott was a great guy and will truly be missed.
