Michael Broadwell Obituary

Michael Broadwell MONCKS CORNER - Michael Broadwell, USAF SMSgt. (Ret.), 69, of Moncks Corner, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side at home. Mr. Broadwell was born January 19, 1943 in Greensboro, NC, the son of Grace W. Broadwell and the late Odell Broadwell of North Carolina. He was a loving and devoted husband to Nancy J.M. Rondeau Broadwell for thirty two wonderful years. They were married on July 6, 1979. He served twenty two and a half years in the United States Air Force and retired in December of 1983. He served all over the world, including Vietnam as an Electronic Communications and Cryptographic Equipment Engineer. During that time he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and many others. After retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, MA, the U.S. Postal Service in York, ME, by the Pantry Stores in South Carolina and his last place of employment was with Lowes in Goose Creek, SC, where he leaves many good friends. He was a strong, intelligent, dependable, courageous man with such love and devotion for his wife, Nancy. He also had the most cherished pride and joy in his life, that was always there for him, his loving daughter, Amy Curl. Michael and Amy were inseparable and had a special bond. They enjoyed fishing, reading National Geographic magazines, sharing memories of living in Maine and many more happy times of just being "Daddy's Little Buddy", as he always called her. Kimberly and Roewan were his most precious grandchildren. Kimberly was his "Little Angel" and Roewan was his "Little Treasure." They meant the world to him, and he loved them so much. He was also very proud of his son-in-law Joseph Curl for the way he took care of his family. He is also survived by two children from a previous marriage, Michael L. Broadwell, Jr. and his wife Cathy of North Carolina and Becky Roess and her husband David of North Carolina, his sister, Dawn Tew and her late husband Frank Tew of North Carolina, two brothers, Danny Broadwell and his wife Linda of North Carolina and Walter Broadwell of North Carolina, two nephews, Donovan Tew and his wife Georgia of North Carolina and Daniel Broadwell and his wife Annice of North Carolina, many nieces nephews, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, in-laws, Roland O. and Doris M. Rondeau of Dracut, MA, sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Michael Grandmaison of Dracut, MA and his dear friend, James Uitich. A celebration for Mr. Broadwell will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Fragile X Foundation. Arrangements by MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Dear Nancy, Amy and all Michael's family, we are very sorry for your loss. Michael will be forever in our hearts. There was always that "special something" about Michael that he could put a smile on someone's face no matter how bad their day was going. I'm sure he's now making all the angels in heaven smile too. We will miss him very much. May God Bless You All And Comfort All Of You.

"Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us everyday,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear."
To the family,
Mikey was always fun to work with over in the electrical department. Forever patient with my endless questions. I am saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you.

To the family.. may you be comforted in this time of loss.
For the Lord will not cast off for ever. but though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
Lamentations 3:31-33
