Michael Ray Briggs Summerville - Michael Ray Briggs, 56, of Summerville, husband of Judith "Judy" Bounds Briggs, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at his residence. He fought an extraordinarily brave and courageous battle against brain cancer. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt St., Charleston, SC 29401. Mike was born on November 3, 1964, in Kankakee, IL, son of Roy Harold Briggs and step-son of Deborah Sue Briggs. He served his country in the US Air Force and retired from the US Air Force Reserve after 29 years. Mike worked in Biomedical Engineering at the Medical University of South Carolina and at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Mike was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and The American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of 21 years; three children: Michael Andrew Briggs of Iowa, Madeline Claire Briggs of Summerville, and Tyler Matthew Briggs of Summerville; three grandchildren: Brayden Briggs Eli Briggs, and Evelynn Joe Briggs all of Iowa; two brothers-in-law: Eric Allen Kraemer (Donata) of Great Falls, VA, and John Franklin Kraemer (Regina) of Chesapeake, VA; and many loved nieces and nephews.
