Merial Greenhill Obituary

Merial Doar Greenhill, beloved husband, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Born on May 4, 1946, in Dorchester County, South Carolina, Merial lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his country, and his community. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Merial served his country with honor and integrity. After his service, he continued to live by the values of loyalty, strength, and kindness that shaped his military years. Merial was married to the love of his life, Gloria Dandridge Greenhill, for over 53 wonderful years. Their bond was a testament to love, respect, and partnership, and their home was always filled with laughter, support, and hospitality. A man of warmth and generous spirit, Merial was known for his outgoing nature. He never met a stranger, and his love for people shone through in every conversation, every smile, and every helping hand he offered. He especially enjoyed golfing, family vacations, playing cards, and gambling; always wanting to share those moments with the people he cherished most. Merial leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and joy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Greenhill; his children: Chris Greenhill (Celeste), Jaysen Greenhill (Maryann), and Geoffrey Greenhill (Jennifer); his grandchildren: Bailey Evans (Bryce), Kamryn Greenhill, Kinsley Greenhill, Josie Greenhill, and Griffin Greenhill; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, beginning at 10:00am in the Chapel of James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens. The family will accept flowers in honor of Merial's life.
