You always believed in me I came from a hard place in life and every time I came to class you would take that away and let me feel like a normal happy teenager. You taught me things I would never have known about myself and you were always so hilarious and a boss man at the same time. I can´t believe I´m finding out so many years later but your memory lives on even when I reach the grave with you Sergeant first class .. wish I could see that contagious smile one more time. Rest in paradise

Today was the first day that his Knightdale High family heard about the passing. We truly appreciate all that he did for us. I searched for him on and off for two years just to simply say goodbye. He was honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. I'm sorry for your family's loss and will keep you in my prayers. I would really love for someone to contact me so that some of the cadets can get together and possibly take a trip to visit or even send something. Please and thank you.

SFC Grant was one of the people that helped me keep my life on track during the worse time im my life. I wish I would have been able to just thank him for all he has done; for all the positivity and hope he gave me. My life hasn't faltered from the path that he helped get me on, and in many ways I saw him as a father to me. The lessons and guidance he gave to me I will past on to my son. He never stopped believing in me, even when I did. I will never forget him, just like he never forgot me. Rest in peace Serg.

I can't believe my little cousin is gone. Ms Virginia Grant has always been the mother I never had. She treated me like I was her own son and was always there for me. Melvin Dwight and I grew up together. I went into the Army and Melvin soon followed. The family have my deepest condolences. You all are in my prayers.
