Melvin Robert Carter, Sr. Charleston - The relatives and friends of Mr. Melvin Robert Carter, Sr. are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 1561 Mosstree Road, North Charleston, SC. Interment - Springwood Cemetery, 1123 Oakland Drive, Cross, SC. A public viewing will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the mortuary and he will lie-in-state on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church. Mr. Carter leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Carter; sister-in-law, Sheila Bell of Charleston, South Carolina; four children, Keith A. Carter (who preceded him in death), Melvin JR Carter of Port Jervis, New York, Kevin Carter of Augusta, Georgia, and Naji Carter (Angela) of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Antonio Gerideau of Charleston, South Carolina, Kimberly Carter-Hagen of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael Carter (Christi) of Round Rock, Texas, Ashley Carter of Waldorf, Maryland, Jason Carter (Melissa) of Port Republic, Maryland, Ameka Thompson (who preceded him in death), and Kristine Thompson of Charlotte, North Carolina; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sheila Bell of Charleston, South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Thomas Morant (Josephine) of Charleston, South Carolina and Jamesy Bell of Tyler, Texas; his brother and sister in Christ, Jerome and Pam Davis of Charleston, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
