Melissa King Obituary

Melissa (Remsburg) King CLARKSBURG, MD - Melissa (Remsburg) King, 53, of Clarksburg, Maryland, passed away on September 29th. The cause was metastatic melanoma. Melissa was a well-respected public health expert, whose 23-year career at Westat culminated in her most recent position of Vice President in the Clinical Trials group. In addition to a rich career, Melissa loved to travel the world with her husband, Howard King, and her son, Julian, who she was devoted to. She was a loyal friend to many, and her humility, kindness, and stellar sense of humor are just a few of the qualities that her friends cherished. She will be missed beyond measure. Melissa was born to Clark and Joyce Remsburg of Charleston, SC, where she was raised. Memorial services in Maryland and South Carolina will be announced at a later date. The service in Charleston will be held at First Scots Presbyterian in December. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

My deepest condolences extended. I graduated high school with Melissa. I met her first in the 5th grade. We became much closer the first three years of high school. I have wonderful childhood memories with Melissa. She was always thoughtful, creative, pensive, kind, and so much fun. I cannot imagine the loss all of her family and friends are feeling. May it bring you comfort that she is fondly remembered by so many souls you may have never even met. She was a wonderful light in this world.
