McKee Boykin Obituary

McKee Boykin, Jr. JOHNS ISLAND - On August 5th, McKee Graham Boykin, Jr., the son of the late McKee Graham Boykin and Virginia Campbell Boykin, went to be with the Lord at the age of 73. He will be missed by his many family members and friends. He was a graduate of Camden High School, the Sumter Area Technical College, and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. McKee was a career law enforcement officer, whose interest in law enforcement began in the 1980s, when he served as a volunteer Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer with the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department. He later served as a scale operator for the South Carolina State Transport Police before his tenure and retirement as a Deputy Sheriff with the Colleton County Sheriffs Office. He is survived by his siblings, Newton Cooke Boykin II (Becky), Virginia Boykin Hancock Moose (Jim), Joseph Alexander Boykin (Lisa), Alexander Hamilton Boykin (Ann), and Burwell deSaussure Boykin. He is additionally survived by six nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by his nephew, Franklin Hunter Hancock. McKee was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. McKee was a passionate supporter of the family dog breed, the Boykin Spaniel, having himself served as a board member of the Boykin Spaniel Society. McKee enjoyed going on outings and companionship with his own Boykin Spaniel who he named "Eli" after his great-grandfather, Elias Miller Boykin, who served as United States Marshall for the District of South Carolina under President Grover Cleveland. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16th, at 10:00 a.m., at the Boykin plot of the Quaker Cemetery, located at 713 Meeting Street, Camden, SC. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in the memory of McKee Graham Boykin, Jr. to the Boykin Spaniel Society at P.O. Box 70 Rembert, SC 29128.
