Maxine Panosh Obituary

CLEAR LAKE | Maxine Irene Panosh, 88, of Clear Lake, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake, with Pastor Ed Bard officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Maxine was born November 13, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Hejlik) Schoun in Duncan, IA. She grew up and attended country school in Duncan, graduating from Garner High School in 1944. She worked for the Iowa Department of Social Services at the Hancock County Courthouse for 20 years, and Floyd County Courthouse for 21 years.

Maxine enjoyed people and socializing over coffee at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City. She was always a fashionable woman with a good appearance and was a wonderful interior decorator as well. In her early years she liked to cook and had an impressive collection of small figurines.

Maxine is survived by her husband of ten years, Leslie Swenson; two step-children, David (Judy) Swenson and Julie (Duane) Wilcoxson; three granddaughters; a sister, Elsie Formanek; three nieces, Blanch Chizek, Marge (Tom) Ryerson, and Marlene (Craig) Leerar; many great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Mark (Rose) Frein; special friends Chaplain Jerry Baker and Mary Wendel-Baker; plus many other friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Charles Panosh and Don Frein; a sister, Rose Formanek; and three nephews, Ray, Robert, and Leo Formanek.
