Maxine Calvert Obituary

Maxine Calvert Goose Creek - Maxine G. Calvert, 82, beloved wife of Harry D. Calvert, passed away on December 20, 2022 in Charleston at a local hospital. Maxine was born in Spartanburg, SC on March 21, 1940. Maxine enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing, working on crossword puzzles, shopping with the grandkids, and spending time with her family. Maxine was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek. She was formerly employed by Berkeley County School System. Maxine is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Harry; her daughters Diane Compton (David) of Goose Creek, SC and Debbie Calvert of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Carrianne Leschak of Raleigh, NC, Thea Compton of Goose Creek, and Britney Compton of Goose Creek, SC; her sisters-in-law, Vicki Gosnell, Vivian Calvert, and Ruth Hammett; her brother-in-law, Reverend Heyward Calvert; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Boyd Gosnell, her brother, Harry Gosnell, and her grandchildren, Brandon Compton and Faith Leschak. Maxine's family will receive guests on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 11:00am - 12:00pm, followed by a service at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, on Rivers Avenue, N. Charleston. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made in memory of Maxine to the charity of your choice.
