Maurice Montmarquette Obituary

Maurice Gerard Joseph Montmarquette, 80, of Moncks Corner, SC-formerly a longtime resident of Rhode Island-passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at his son's home. Born on September 29, 1945, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Maurice was the son of Leopold and Vitaline (Menard) Montmarquette. He was a man of deep faith, rooted in his Catholic upbringing, and even deeper love-for his family, his friends, and his community. Maurice was known for his tireless work ethic, often described as a workaholic, yet he always made time to lend a hand. Whether it was working on cars, driving neighbors to appointments, or shoveling snow for those in need, Maurice gave generously and quietly. He lived with purpose and compassion, and those who knew him felt the strength of his heart. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Montmarquette, and sisters Alice A. Cornille, Simone Brizard, and Anita Howard. Maurice is survived by his sons, Marc Montmarquette and wife Bea of Moncks Corner, and Peter Montmarquette of Summerville; his sisters Theresa Ouellette, Orise Corriveau, Rosina Dumont, and Germaine Salciarini; grandchildren Cori Fisher and husband Kyle, Logan Montmarquette, and Joshua Montmarquette; and great-granddaughter Shelby Fisher. A celebration of Maurice's life will be held at a later date in Rhode Island, where many of his fondest memories were made.
