Mattie Kennedy Obituary

Mattie Kennedy Johns Island - Mattie Sue Knight Kennedy, 92, went to be with the Lord early Monday evening, December 11, 2018. She was born May 23, 1926 in Scranton, SC to the late Ralph and Louise Jordan Knight. She is survived by four daughters, Wanda Painter, of Summerville, Lenora Pressley, of Summerville, Sylvia Ham, of Summerville and Trina Grafton, of Johns Island, one son, Lynn Kennedy, of Charleston, three sisters, Anita Haynes, of Easley, SC, Katherine Powell, of Kingstree, and Ina Blake, of Salters, SC, 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Kennedy, two sisters, Geneva Smith, Gertrude Thompson, and three brothers, Donald Knight, Sam Knight, and Glenn Knight. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon, December 14, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a funeral service following at 1:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.
