Matthew Sacilowski Obituary

PFC Matthew Emery Sacilowski SUMMERVILLE - PFC Matthew Emery Sacilowski, 22, of Summerville, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. He was born on Wednesday, February 23, 1994 in Woodbury, NJ to Donna Rieder Sacilowski and Paul Matthew Sacilowski. Matthew was an energetic child. He enjoyed karate, basketball, bowling and computer games. His grandfather was a firefighter, which fueled his love of fire trucks. He was passionate about music and played the guitar. He graduated from Fort Dorchester High School, where his favorite subjects were architectural design and history. After moving from New Jersey, Matthew considered Charleston his home and loved Folly Beach, and fishing. He was passionate about becoming a United States Marine and graduated from Parris Island on September 11, 2015. He was stationed at Cherry Point Marine Base in NC, where he was commended by his commanding officer for his hard work, professionalism and selflessness. Matthew loved his family, especially his 14 month old son. His family will remember him as a funny, loving, persistent, and a truly fine young man. He was a wonderful father and husband, an extraordinary son and a proud Marine with a promising future. Matthew is preceded in death by his grandfather, George Rieder, Sr.; grandparents, Helen and Matthew Sacilowski; great-aunt and uncle, George and Rose Emery; and godfather, Jack Kilpatrick. He is survived by his loving wife, Megan Spicknall Sacilowski; son, Matthew Emery Sacilowski, Jr.; mother, Donna Rieder Sacilowski; father, Paul Matthew Sacilowski; sister, Anne Elizabeth Sacilowski; grandmothers: Elizabeth Rieder and Patricia Rieder; aunts: Margaret Rieder, Kathleen Rieder Cohen (Jeffry) and Michelle Hickman (Mark); uncle: George Rieder, Jr.; cousins: Brian Rieder, Shannon Roman, Jennifer Hinze, Carrington Roman, Mark Benjamin Roman, Denissa Roman and Tristan Thompson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
